LASG URGES HOMEOWNERS TO OBTAIN TITLE DOCUMENT

In line with the policy of the State Government to encourage titling of properties in the State, the Ministry of Housing has called on the allottees of various State-owned Housing Estates who purchased home units on or before 2019 and are yet to collect their Deed of Sub-Title document on their home units to now apply.

This announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola at the monthly stakeholders meeting and public enlightenment for residents of State Government Owned Housing Estates in Ikorodu Division held at Ayangburen Jubilee Housing Estate, Ikorodu.

He said the Deed of Sub-Lease document is a crucial property document issued by the State Government to homeowners in government housing estates, which would serve as their proof of ownership and tenable for business transactions, especially to secure mortgages and collaterals.

The Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola, who was represented by the Director, Estate Department, ESV (Mrs.) Olukemi Fosudo, pointed out that the Deed of Sublease is different from the Letter of Confirmation. He further stated that the Letter of Confirmation is issued to an allottee only after they have consented to the terms and conditions given by the State Government in the Letter of Offer, which shows completion of payments.

In addition, he also advised allottees of Lagos State-Owned Estates who are yet to receive a Letter of Confirmation/Deed of Sub-lease or have completed their payments to visit the Department of Estates in the Ministry of Housing, Alausa, for verification of their allocation.

The Permanent Secretary also called on allottees to take ownership of the estates, obey established rules and regulations, and live in harmony, thereby supporting the vision of the State Government. He also seized the opportunity to reiterate the unalloyed commitment of the Lagos State Government to granting the citizenry access to affordable and sustainable homes.
