Anne Schedeen, ALF star who played Kate Tanner, dies at 77 Anne Schedeen, best known for playing Kate Tanner on the NBC sitcom ALF, has died at the age of 77. Her family said she “passed peacefully” in a statement shared Sunday, adding that she died surrounded by the legacy of her life and work. A cause of death was not disclosed. In their tribute, her family described Schedeen as someone with “creative energy,” sharp humor, and a deep love for her family, storytelling, and rescue dogs. They remembered her as a strong presence in their lives, saying her memory would live on through her artwork, handmade creations, and “joie de vivre.” They also asked loved ones to honor her by supporting Habitat for Humanity in lieu of sending flowers. Her longtime agent confirmed her death and said she meant “the world” to both her family and her professional circle.  Swift Action by TRU Leads to Recovery of Hijacked Vehicle in Soweto


On Friday, 13 June 2025, at approximately 19:05, Tactical Response Unit (TRU) members on crime prevention patrol in Soweto responded to a complaint from a hijacking and kidnapping victim. The victim had spotted his hijacked Mercedes-Benz C63s, now bearing false number plates, on Rathebe Street in Orlando.


Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle along with a suspect, who claimed he had purchased the car from a friend for R20,000 but was unable to provide any details regarding the seller’s whereabouts.


Further inspection revealed that the vehicle’s VIN, license disc, and number plates had been tampered with. The suspect was arrested on the spot for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and is currently detained at Orlando SAPS.


Well done to the TRU team for their swift and effective response in recovering a high-profile stolen vehicle. Your dedication to public safety is commendable.
