Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search.  Swift Action by TRU Leads to Recovery of Hijacked Vehicle in Soweto


On Friday, 13 June 2025, at approximately 19:05, Tactical Response Unit (TRU) members on crime prevention patrol in Soweto responded to a complaint from a hijacking and kidnapping victim. The victim had spotted his hijacked Mercedes-Benz C63s, now bearing false number plates, on Rathebe Street in Orlando.


Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle along with a suspect, who claimed he had purchased the car from a friend for R20,000 but was unable to provide any details regarding the seller’s whereabouts.


Further inspection revealed that the vehicle’s VIN, license disc, and number plates had been tampered with. The suspect was arrested on the spot for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and is currently detained at Orlando SAPS.


Well done to the TRU team for their swift and effective response in recovering a high-profile stolen vehicle. Your dedication to public safety is commendable.
