Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to South East Development at Empowerment Event in Abia

President Bola Tinubu has pledged continued support for the development and economic growth of Nigeria’s South East region, according to Belusochukwu Enwere, National Coordinator of the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA). Speaking on Saturday during an empowerment program in Umuahia, Abia State, Enwere emphasized Tinubu’s high regard for the region and his commitment to its inclusion in the national development agenda.

The event, part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saw the inauguration of the SERHA state chapter and the empowerment of small business owners, indigent persons, and women. Items distributed included motorcycles, mini buses, sewing machines, hair dryers, and grinding machines. Financial support was also provided: ₦200,000 to 100 business owners, ₦100,000 to 200 businesses, ₦50,000 to 300 businesses, and ₦20,000 to 500 indigent families.

Enwere highlighted key policies of the Tinubu administration, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which supports indigent students, and the removal of fuel subsidies, which he said has reduced corruption in the oil sector and freed funds for development projects. He also praised the establishment of the South East Development Commission as a catalyst for regional progress and urged citizens to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

“We are grateful to you all for believing in Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Enwere said. “We gather today as a collective voice, united in our determination to support President Tinubu for a second term. We believe in his vision, his leadership, and his unwavering commitment to building a brighter future for our nation.”

Abia State Coordinator of SERHA, Amb. Uche Hilary-Adibe, commended Tinubu’s developmental efforts and called for sustained focus on making the South East a model of progress. “Your presence is a testament to the importance of grassroots mobilisation, youth and women empowerment, and community engagement,” he said, addressing the national leadership of SERHA.

Hilary-Adibe encouraged Abia residents to seize the opportunity to build a better future, assuring them of Tinubu’s commitment to the region’s interests. The event underscored the administration’s focus on grassroots empowerment and regional development as part of its broader vision for Nigeria.
