 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Tragedy in Osisioma: Bride Abducted, Brother Killed Days Before Wedding


A wedding planned in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area turned tragic on Friday, June 20, 2025, when gunmen attacked the bride-to-be’s residence, kidnapping her and killing her brother. The incident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m. near Ariaria Junction, has left the community in mourning.


The bride, Uzoamaka Joseph Aliu, was abducted by unknown assailants during the violent attack. Her brother, Chibueze Franklin Joseph, who was actively involved in preparations for the upcoming wedding, was fatally shot. The wedding, scheduled to take place shortly after the incident, was immediately canceled.


Chibueze’s body has been deposited at Alanwemadu Mortuary near Arongwa, while the family is desperately working to secure Uzoamaka’s release. Residents of the community have expressed profound shock and grief over the senseless act, which has cast a pall over the area.


The Abia State Police Command has yet to release an official statement, but investigations are expected to be underway to apprehend the perpetrators and rescue the abducted bride.
