 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. 26-YEAR-OLD MODEL FROM INDIA, TRAGICALLY DIED BY SUICIDE IN PUDUCHERRY ON SUNDAY. (PHOTO)

 San Rechal Gandhi, a 26-year-old model and former Miss Puducherry (2022), tragically died by suicide in Puducherry on Sunday. She passed away during treatment at JIPMER Hospital after being moved from a government hospital and a private facility. Rechal had reportedly consumed a large number of tablets while visiting her father’s home.


Police say that initial investigations suggest financial stress and personal struggles may have driven her to take the extreme step. She had recently sold her jewellery to manage her expenses and had also sought financial help from family members.


A suicide note was found at the scene, in which Rechal stated that no one should be blamed for her death. Given her recent marriage, authorities have ordered a Tahsildar-level inquiry to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined.


Known for her active presence in the modelling industry, Rechal’s sudden death has shocked many in Puducherry and beyond. Police have confirmed that further investigations are underway to fully understand the circumstances surrounding her death.
