The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the approval of a massive recruitment drive to onboard 3,000 qualified professionals into its Mainstream Civil Service. The initiative, described as a strategic effort to bolster public service delivery and promote youth empowerment, was unveiled by state officials on Monday.

According to a statement from the Office of the Governor, the recruitment exercise aims to fill critical gaps in the state’s workforce, enhance administrative efficiency, and provide employment opportunities for young Akwa Ibomites. The new hires will span various sectors, including education, healthcare, engineering, and administration, ensuring a broad impact on the state’s development agenda.

Governor Umo Eno, in a press briefing, emphasized the government’s commitment to building a robust civil service capable of driving Akwa Ibom’s vision for sustainable growth. “This recruitment is not just about filling positions; it’s about empowering our youth, harnessing their talents, and strengthening the foundation of our public service to deliver tangible results for our people,” he stated.

The recruitment process will prioritize transparency, merit, and inclusivity, with applications open to qualified candidates across the state. The government has assured that the selection process will adhere to strict standards, ensuring only competent and dedicated professionals are recruited.

Interested applicants are required to submit their credentials through an online portal, with details to be announced by the State Civil Service Commission in the coming days. The recruitment exercise is expected to commence in August 2025, with successful candidates undergoing training to align with the state’s service delivery goals.

This move has been widely applauded by stakeholders, with many describing it as a timely intervention to address unemployment and enhance governance in Akwa Ibom.
