*SECURITY ASSESSMENT IN ANAMBRA STATE: POLICE TO EXPOSE PERSONS SHARING SECURITY INCIDENTS WITH INTENT TO CAUSE PANIC AND DISCREDIT SECURITY AGENCIES*

The Anambra State Police Command has observed with grave concern the increasing activities of individuals and groups who deliberately share misleading or exaggerated security-related information on social media and other platforms with the sole intent of causing panic and discrediting the efforts of security agencies in the State.

These acts are not only malicious but also undermine ongoing security operations and public confidence in the ability of law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.

The Command therefore warns that it will no longer tolerate such acts of deliberate misinformation. In line with ongoing security assessments, individuals found to be behind the spread of false or inciting content aimed at causing fear or discrediting the Police and other security agencies will be thoroughly investigated and exposed. Appropriate legal actions shall be taken in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and other extant laws.

The public is hereby advised to remain vigilant, avoid spreading unverified information, and support the Police by reporting any suspicious activity through the Command’s official channels.

Given the above, the Command reaffirms its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Anambra State, while also upholding transparency and professionalism in policing.
