Kaduna university Condemns Viral Assault Incident Of Female Students Beating Another Student Allegedly Over A Man, Promises Disciplinary Action

The Management of Kaduna State University (KASU) has strongly condemned a recent assault incident involving female students within the university hostel premises.

In a viral video widely circulated on social media, several female students were seen physically assaulting another female student, allegedly over a dispute involving a male individual called Francis.

In response, the university issued an official press release on Thursday, signed by the Registrar, Samira Balarabe, describing the act as “shameful” and reiterating KASU’s zero-tolerance stance against all forms of bullying and indiscipline.

“KASU Management wishes to categorically condemn this shameful act in the strongest terms,” the statement read. “The University has zero tolerance for bullying, violence, or any form of indiscipline. Such behaviour is grossly unacceptable and runs contrary to the core values that define us as an institution of learning and moral uprightness.”

The university confirmed that the students involved in the incident have been identified and that disciplinary measures are already underway.

“We wish to inform the public that the students involved in the incident have been identified, and the University is already handling the matter decisively in accordance with its established rules and disciplinary procedures,” it stated.

KASU also emphasized its dual role as an academic institution and a promoter of ethical character.

“Kaduna State University is not only a centre of academic excellence, but also one committed to producing graduates who are worthy in learning and character,” the management said.

In addressing the broader community, the university assured that strict sanctions would be applied to those found culpable.

“Management assures the University community and the general public that appropriate sanctions will be meted out to all those found culpable, to serve as a deterrent and to forestall any future recurrence.”

The statement concluded with a call for collaboration from parents, guardians, and stakeholders in upholding the values of respect and discipline.

“We remain committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. Parents, guardians, and stakeholders are also urged to continue to partner with the University in instilling the right values in our young people.”

The university has pledged to ensure justice is served while maintaining a safe campus environment for all.
