Two senior lecturers of the Lagos State University (LASU) have been sacked for alleged sexual harassment, inhumane treatment of students, and financial fraud amounting to N10.6 million.
Dr. Olatunji Abanikanda, Dean of the Department of Agricultural Science, Epe Campus; and Dr. Khadeejah Kareem-Ibraheem, Coordinator, Department of Animal Sciences, School of Agriculture, Epe Campus, were fired for violating university regulations regarding student relations and financial probity.
Abanikanda was alleged to keep agriculture students on the school farm from morning till night in scorching sun and through rainfalls. He also subjected students to curses, derogatory utterances, and profane expletives while sexually harassing others.
Kareem-Ibraheem was said to have kept N10.6 million realized from selling school farm produce in her personal account and used same for her personal needs.
The LASU Governing Council held its 143rd Statutory Meeting on Thursday, July 3, 2025, and approved the termination of both lecturers.
