 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  PDP Announces 101st NEC Meeting for July 23-25, 2025


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled its 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to take place from Wednesday, July 23 to Friday, July 25, 2025, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. The announcement was made in a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, and shared on X on Tuesday.


According to the statement, the three-day meeting will commence daily at 2:00 pm and is in line with the party’s internal processes as outlined in Section 31(1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017). A reminder has been issued to all NEC members to attend.


The meeting will see the participation of key party figures, including the National Chairman, serving and former Presidents and Vice Presidents of Nigeria (if party members), the Chairman and Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT), and all other BoT members. Also invited are principal officers of the National Assembly who are PDP members, including up to 18 serving Senators and 24 House of Representatives members from across the country, all PDP governors, National Officers of the Party, state chairmen, six ex-officio members, and other former key officeholders who remain party members.


The PDP emphasized the importance of the gathering as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its organizational framework ahead of future political activities.
