 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs. S. A: A 33-YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT HAS BEEN ARRESTED BY MEMBERS OF THE SAPS NELSPRUIT FLYING SQUAD FOLLOWING AN ARMED ROBBERY INVOLVING A MEDICAL DOCTOR IN BARBERTON. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON WEDNESDAY, 30 JULY 2025.(PHOTO).


   S. A: A 33-year-old male suspect has been arrested by members of the SAPS Nelspruit Flying Squad following an armed robbery involving a medical doctor in Barberton. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, at approximately 23:45.


According to reports, the doctor was on his way home after completing his shift when he was approached by two armed suspects. One of them allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and hijacked his new white Mahindra bakkie. The suspects then fled the scene.


Acting on intelligence, police tracked the stolen vehicle travelling towards Machadodorp in the direction of Nelspruit, using the Schoemanskloof Road. While patrolling the N4, officers spotted the vehicle and initiated a high-speed chase.


The suspect’s vehicle turned onto Sabie Road near the Sudwala Caves, where the driver eventually lost control and veered off the road. While the passenger managed to escape, the driver was apprehended on the scene.


During a search, officers recovered a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off, six live rounds of ammunition, a military-grade signal jamming device with 16 antennas, and a Lenovo laptop.
