Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Senator Lawal Usman Adamu Distances Himself From Coalition, Reaffirms Loyalty To PDP


Senator Lawal Usman Adamu, who represents Kaduna Central in the Nigerian Senate, has publicly distanced himself from reports linking him to any political coalition outside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


In a statement released to the press, Senator Adamu clarified that his recent visit to the residence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was purely personal and not indicative of any political realignment or defection.


"My recent visit to the residence of His Excellency, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was entirely personal and should not be misinterpreted as a political move or a sign that I have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)," he said.


Senator Adamu emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the PDP, a party he credits with giving him the platform to serve both his constituents and the nation.


"I remain a loyal and committed member of the PDP, a party that gave me the opportunity to serve my constituents and the nation in the Senate. I am deeply grateful for that trust and privilege," he noted.


With the PDP currently facing internal challenges, the Senator called for unity and resilience among party members. 


“At a time like this—when our great party is facing challenges—it is important for true party members to stand firm, not to walk away,” he said, adding that he remains committed to working with stakeholders to reposition the party for future success.


He urged the public, party supporters, and the media to disregard any speculation suggesting he has left the PDP, reaffirming: “My loyalty to the party remains unwavering.”
