 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Starmer says UK will recognize Palestinian state if Israel does not agree to ceasefire


Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced Tuesday that the U.K. plans to recognize a Palestinian state in September unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza and takes meaningful steps toward a lasting peace. Starmer convened a rare summer Cabinet meeting to address the escalating crisis in Gaza and outline the government’s stance.

He told ministers that Britain will move forward with recognizing Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly if the Israeli government does not take significant action to end the humanitarian crisis, agree to a ceasefire, renounce any plans to annex parts of the West Bank, and commit to a peace process aimed at achieving a two-state solution. While the U.K. has historically supported a negotiated two-state solution, calls to formally recognize Palestinian statehood have intensified following French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement that France will recognize Palestine in September, making it the first major Western nation to do so.
