 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  SUPER EAGLES GOALKEEPER MADUKA OKOYE BANNED FOR BETTING IN ITALY 


Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has been banned for two months for illegal sports betting in Italy.


Okoye, who joined Italian Serie A side, Udinese, from English club Watford in 2023, was found guilty of betting fraud when he was given a yellow card for wasting time in a 2024 match between Udinese and Lazio.


Authorities later found that thousands of people had betted that Okoye would be given a yellow card at 8/1 odds, with more than €120,000 generated in winnings.


A June 2025 inquiry found the 25-year-old player guilty and he was handed a two-month ban. Analysts said he could have been given a four-year ban.


The ban will take effect from August 18, 2025, when Udinese faces Carrarese in the Coppa Italia, ruling Okoye out of six Serie A matches. He will be eligible to return on October 19.
