 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state.  TEACHER FOUND DEAD IN CLASSROOM AT KING'S COLLEGE, LAGOS

A 48-year-old teacher at King’s College, Lagos, Mr. Ezekiel Akano was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday evening inside one of the school’s classrooms.


According to police sources, the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele reported the incident to the Lagos State Police Command at approximately 7:40 p.m. He stated that he had been alerted to the discovery of Mr. Akano’s lifeless body within the school premises is located at No. 3 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.


In response, a team of detectives was immediately deployed to the scene. The area was cordoned off, and investigators conducted a thorough examination. Photographs were taken, and preliminary inspection revealed no visible signs of violence on the body.


Mr. Akano, a native of Oyo State, was later transported to the Lagos Island Hospital, Odan, where a medical officer confirmed him dead on arrival. His remains have since been deposited in the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.


The police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to uncover the cause of the teacher’s sudden death.
