No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

10TH NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES: NSC DELEGATES INSPECT LAGOS  SPORTS FACILITIES

As part of the due process towards the bid to host the 10th edition of the annual National Youth Games, the management staff of the Lagos State Sports Commission, alongside delegates from the National Sports Commission, embarked on a two-day inspection tour of Sporting facilities in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Government has expressed its interest in hosting the grassroots developmental programme designed to showcase and unearth raw talent across the disciplines, in line with Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration's commitment to youth empowerment through sports and education. The inspection of facilities started from the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, before the team proceeded to the National Stadium.

Other facilities visited include the newly refurbished Elegbata Sports Complex, Iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Cricket Oval, Tafawa Balewa Square, Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba. Including the University of Lagos Sports Complex, CMS Grammar School, Bariga, and the Agege Stadium.

Speaking at the brief meeting with the delegates from NSC, Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, emphasised the significance of the games designed for athletes below the age of 15, assuring the NSC of the state's readiness and determination to host one of the best in the history of the NYG in Nigeria.

He added that Sports has gone beyond the traditional engagement and interactions, saying sports has become full engagement for life and purpose, and that's the agenda Lagos state is driving towards.

Speaking further, the  DG of LSSC stressed that the bid to host the 10th edition of the Games is coming at the eve of another national election which provides another ample opportunity to bring Nigerians together as one of the objectives of the initiative established in 2013.

He also thanked the NSC for showing confidence in Lagos state and assured that the assessment and feedback from the NSC to get Lagos fully ready to host the Games, if given the hosting, will be worked on.

According to the Head of the delegation and Director, Grassroots Sports Development, Mrs. Amaka Ashiofu, one of the objectives of giving hosting rights to any state is to develop sports infrastructure.

She noted that they intend to assess and point out any facility that needs to be improved, as the Commission would work with the state government in ensuring a smooth process.

The hosting of the NYG is not only an avenue for the U-15 athletes to participate. It also creates opportunities for youngsters to get a scholarship to tertiary institutions. It will further spotlight the iconic facilities in the state of aquatic splendour to the world, its culture, and tell the story of the nation's commercial nerve centre.
