Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  12TH ANNUAL SUMMIT: ALARHOSPS CALLS FOR MORAL REBIRTH

The Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) has called on all Nigerians, irrespective of status, religion and ethnicity, to join forces towards the ethical rebirth of our great nation, Nigeria.

This call was contained in a statement issued by the Association's President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan, while announcing the date for their 12th annual summit scheduled to take place from 12th to 13th August, 2025.

Otunba Ojora-Adejiyan said, with the recent happenings in the country, there is no gainsaying the fact that there is a need for a rebirth towards the promotion and practicality of the highest ethical and moral standards in our individual and collective lives; rendering services that are neither selfish nor self-centred, devoid of self-interest towards one another.

He said that we should accept our individual and collective guilt in terms of the present moral degradation and permissiveness, by working jointly in creating the necessary positive change to improve our well-being.

The President appreciated the Lagos State Government for the strategic creation of the Lagos State Food Infrastructure Company (LAFINSCO) aimed at enhancing food security and agricultural productivity in the State.

Recall that the theme of last year's  ALARHOSPS summit was: “Agenda For Sustainable  Development and Food Security”, which contributed in no small measure to the debate and discussions on food security across the country last year.

The concept of the ALARHOSPS summit is to serve as a veritable platform to discuss topical issues on good governance and improved service delivery through which relevant and useful contributions are made towards state and national development.
