ARIARA TRADERS CALL FOR GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI'S INTERVENTION OVER PROPOSED REMODELING OF SOME LINES IN THE MARKET

The National Association of Nigeria Traders, Ariaria Chapter, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, embarked on a peaceful walk to Aba North Local Government Area and the Constituency Office of the member representing Aba North and Aba South federal  constituency.

At Aba North Secretariat, they were received by the Mayor, Timothy Iheke.

While expressing their fears about the purported remodelling of Ariaria, the concerned traders lamented that the Contractor has not carried them along.

The Union reiterated once again that they were never against the remodeling but would prefer a situation where they carry out the remodeling themselves and pay 500 hundred thousand naira per shop for re-allocation.

Speaking with Magic Fm, the Secretary of the Association, Mr. Chukwuememaka Asikan, appreciated the effort of Governor Alex Otti towards the remodeling of the market, while noting that the union rejected any form of developer and bank loan for the remodeling.

Also speaking, the women leader of the union, Mrs.. Ifenyinwa Ukanu, pleaded that the governor intervene to prevent the traders from falling into untold hardship.

Responding, Hon. Timothy, thanked the Ariaria traders for their respect and promised to take their demands to Governor Otti and other stakeholders for a peaceful resolution.

At the Aba North and Aba South federal constituency office, their letter was received for onward transmission to the lawmaker representing the constituency, Alex Ikwechegh.
