 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  Baltimore mass shooting leaves 6 injured, including 5-year-old girl, police report

Six people, including a 5-year-old girl, were injured in a mass shooting in a Baltimore neighborhood on Saturday night, according to police.

The shooting happened just before 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of Spaulding and Queensberry avenues, where residents had gathered outdoors for a meal, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said during a late-night news conference.

The child was shot in the hand and is expected to recover, Worley noted. A 38-year-old man remains in critical condition. The other victims include a 23-year-old woman and three men, ages 32, 33, and 52.

Authorities have released few details about the shooter. “We have little information at this point. All we know is there were multiple rounds fired and multiple victims,” Worley said.

He added that it appeared the group was eating crabs when someone opened fire.
