 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Bandits leader releases 142 victims to govt in Zamfara amid peace talk


About 142 people kidnapped in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State have been released in the middle of ongoing peace talks.

Reports confirmed that the victims were freed without conditions by a well-known bandit leader, Muhammadu Dansaadiyya, on Wednesday.

Security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama in a post on his X handle said the kidnapped victims had earlier been taken from several villages, including Gidan Gardawa, Kyambarawa, Maguru, Kurya Madaro, Kagara, Yankaba, Madira, and Dogon Daji in Kaura Namoda.

“The 142 victims regained freedom on Aug. 27 at about 8:30 a.m. They were immediately taken to General Hospital, Kaura Namoda, for medical checks, debriefed, and later reunited with their families,” the sources said.

Authorities say the release is part of ongoing non-military efforts by the federal government to bring back peace to the North West and secure the freedom of people still in captivity.
