 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  BENUE: GUNMEN ABDUCT NYSC MEMBER ON KATSINA-ALA, TAKUM HIGHWAY

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from a commercial vehicle travelling along the Katsina-Ala–Takum highway in Benue State.


The incident occurred over the weekend when a Toyota Carina II, with registration number KLD 108 AA, was en route from Takum, Taraba State, to Katsina-Ala, Benue State. The vehicle was said to be carrying seven passengers at the time of the attack.


Witnesses said the assailants ambushed the vehicle, forcing it to a halt before whisking away the corps member to an unknown location. The identities of the victim and other passengers have not yet been disclosed.


Authorities in the area are yet to issue an official statement, but security operatives have reported launched a search operation to rescue the abducted corps member and apprehend the perpetrators.
