 Brazil’s former president Bolsonaro hospitalized in intensive care with pneumonia, officials say   Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro is being treated in an intensive care unit in Brasilia after developing pneumonia, hospital officials said Friday. Doctors described the 70-year-old’s condition as serious, warning that pneumonia in older patients can progress to septicemia if bacteria enter the bloodstream. Bolsonaro was transferred from prison after experiencing high fever, chills, vomiting, and low oxygen levels, his eldest son, Flávio Bolsonaro, said on X. The hospital confirmed bronchopneumonia, likely caused by aspiration, and said he is receiving intravenous antibiotics and non-invasive support. Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year sentence for attempting a coup following his 2022 election defeat, and hospital staff noted it is unlikely he will return to prison in the coming days due to the need for ongoing IV treatment.  BENUE: IDOMA WOMEN LEADERS CALL FOR PEACE IN ADO


A coalition of prominent Idoma women under the banner Anya’ Olo Ki DOMA, a political advocacy group, Thursday called for an end to the escalating crisis between the deputy speaker of the Benue state House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, and the chairman of Ado local government council, Mr. Sunday Oche.


The deputy speaker of the Benue state House of Assembly, Lami Danladi-Ogenyi, recently filed a motion alerting the House to an alleged illegal detention cell in Ezza, Ado local government area.


Danladi-Ogenyi said the cell, purportedly operated by political stooges under the supervision of the council chairman, Sunday Oche, poses a significant threat to the lives of Ezza residents.


The motion calls for the suspension of chairman Oche and his deputy to facilitate an investigation. However, chairman Oche has vehemently denied the allegations, accusing Danladi-Ogenyi of blackmail after he refused to share local government funds with her. Oche maintains that he is not involved in any shady dealings.


The situation has escalated into a deep-seated crisis between the Ado council chairman and the deputy speaker, with their supporters reportedly engaging in physical altercations and petitions.
