 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Enugwu Ukwu Monarch Gives Notice Of Community's New Yam Festival

The Traditional Ruler of Enugwu Ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpe has announced the 22nd of August 2025 as the fixed date for the celebration of the community's new yam festival also known as the "Onwa Asato'


In a press statement in his Enugwu Ukwu palace,Igwe Ekpe spoke of the imperatives of the celebration in celebrating the new yam and the performance of other rituals associated with the celebration.


According to the royal father,after the royal new yam celebration,the Enugwu Ukwu community will eat their own yam the following day 23rd of August followed by the Thanksgiving Mass celebration and Church Service on the 24th of August to give God the ultimate glory for the gift of the new yam.


He made reference to the"Ikpo ji' ceremony celebrated on the 19th day of July 2025 which featured the evacuation of all old tubers of Yam in the Nkwo market and their replacement with the new tubers of Yam.
