 ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTED PRODUCERS OF ADULTERATED ALCOHOLIC DRINKS, RECOVERS COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS AND CHEMICALS Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad/VCRU have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the production and distribution of adulterated alcoholic beverages in the State. The suspects, identified as Ikechukwu Okeke 42 years old and Okeke Chukwuemeka 38 years old were arrested in the early hours of today 15th June 2026,  following credible intelligence received by the Police. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a syndicate specializing in the adulteration and counterfeiting of various alcoholic beverages. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and subsequently led operatives to their mini-factory.  Fire erupts on Maersk container ship off Liberia 

A Maersk container ship caught fire off the coast of Liberia on Wednesday, and efforts to extinguish the blaze were still underway a day later, the Danish shipping company confirmed Thursday. The vessel, identified as the Marie Maersk, was traveling from Rotterdam, Netherlands, to Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, when crew members detected smoke coming from several containers onboard.

Maersk reported that all crew members were safe and actively working to control the fire. Two tugboats equipped with firefighting gear reached the scene late Wednesday to assist in the operation. Authorities and the company are continuing to monitor the situation as the firefighting efforts proceed.
