 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  I didn’t get into politics to enrich myself – El-Rufai warns against voting APC


Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed that he got into politics to serve humanity and not to enrich himself.


El-Rufai made the remark while urging Nigerians to sack the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.


He spoke while mobilizing youths to support the opposition coalition in Sokoto State on Saturday.


El-Rufai noted that APC posed a risk to Nigeria’s unity, hence should not be allowed to remain in power in 2027.


The key member of the opposition coalition described the APC as “incompetent and clannish,” stressing that it poses a threat to Nigeria’s unity by remaining in power.


He said: “I didn’t get into politics to enrich myself but to serve. And when a government ceases to serve the people, it is my duty as a senior citizen to not only speak out but take action to reverse the situation.”


The opposition coalition had adopted the African Democratic Congress as it moves to ensure the APC doesn’t return to power in 2027.
