KANO POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS, RECOVERS 23 STOLEN MOBILE PHONES, POS MACHINES, OTHER ITEMS
The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspects, Umar Aliyu (25 years old) and Sabiu Kabiru (27 years old), both residents of Gunduwawa Village in Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State. The arrest was carried out on 7th August 2025, at 3:00PM, by operatives of the Command's Special Intervention Squad (SIS), following credible intelligence and the directive of the State Commissioner of Police.
2. A thorough search of the suspects led to the recovery of the following items:
- Twenty-three (23) mobile phones (10 Android phones and 13 keypad phones)
- Three (3) Point-of-Sale (POS) Machines
- Seventeen (17) Opay Instant Debit Cards
- Three (3) MP3 Players
- Eight (8) Mobile Phone Batteries
- One (1) Power Bank
3. During the investigation, the suspects confessed to conspiring and breaking into a business center in Dinyar Madiga Village, Takai Local Government Area, where they allegedly stole the items. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies in their claim, and it was determined that the stolen items were not taken from the stated location.
4. To aid the recovery process and identify rightful owners, the Command has directed the display of the recovered items. Members of the public who recognize the items or have information about their ownership are urged to visit the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, at the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). Alternatively, they may contact the Investigation Police Officer (IPO) directly via 08063333548.
5. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication. He reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Kano State, as well as its resolve to bring all perpetrators of crime to justice.
6. The Command appreciates the continued support and cooperation of the public in providing timely and credible information to aid its efforts in combating crime and protecting the community.
