 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  Kenya Defence Forces Aircraft C,rashes in Nairobi Residential Area, Casualties Feared 


A Cessna Citation 560, a light aircraft, crashed into a densely populated residential area in Githurai, Nairobi, on Thursday, according to Kenyan authorities. Several are feared dead in the accidentt.


According to reports, the aircraft involved in the c,rash is suspected to belong to the Kenya Defence Forces.


Authorities reported that the aircraft departed from Wilson Airport en route to Hargeisa but lost communication with air traffic controllers at approximately 12:17 pm.


A video from the c,rash site has surfaced on social media showing a huge crowd gathered around a burning aircraft.


Emergency responders, including military personnel and police officers, arrived swiftly to cordon off the area and control the gathering crowds.


The incident occurred in proximity to a military installation, with nearby personnel providing immediate assistance.


Githurai 45 Sub-county Police Commander Maurice Odanga verified the accidentt and stated that aviation authorities and security specialists had arrived to conduct an investigation. 


Fire services were deployed to extinguish the b,laze, according to the report.
