All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flagbearer for the November 8 election in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has declared that the upcoming by-elections in the state will serve as a demonstration of the party’s dominance
Ukachukwu asserted that the APC had already gained strong control of Anambra and would use the November poll to make that control official.
Speaking in Awka while hosting a delegation of market association leaders who visited to endorse his bid, Ukachukwu said the August 16 by-elections would be a litmus test for the ruling state government.According to him,
“The polls on August 16 will be our chance to send Governor Soludo a clear message that Anambra belongs to the APC. I am from the same region, and after that election, everyone will know who truly holds sway in this state. A noisy threat without action means nothing, and we will use this exercise to measure our political strength. My mission here is to serve you and restore Anambra to its rightful position.”
Ukachukwu also lamented the plight of traders in the state, saying their welfare should be a priority. He argued that if Governor Soludo had the people’s interests at heart, he would have placed traders—who make up the largest segment of the population—at the forefront of his policies. He promised to make a trader a commissioner for trade when he is elected Governor
"We are coming to practicalize governance, we are coming to put round pegs in round holes. Grammar does not govern, it is experience that governs. Once I become governor, my commissioner for trade and commerce must be a trader. I’m a trader and I’m proud of where I am coming from"
