CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  Man Arrested for Murder of Pregnant Girlfriend in Leeufontein


The police in Marble Hall have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the brutal murder of his girlfriend at Leeufontein RDP section yesterday.


According to police reports, officers received information from community members about an injured woman at Leeufontein RDP. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old woman lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but she was certified dead. It was later discovered that the victim was four months pregnant.


The suspect is now facing a murder charge and will appear in court soon.
