Shehu Sani Condemns Killing Of 16-Year-Old in Kaduna, Calls For Urgent Investigation

Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani has strongly condemned the killing of a teenage boy by security operatives in Kaduna State.

Security personnel, who were in Barnawa community searching for illicit drug dealers, allegedly opened fire on 16-year-old Abubakar, killing him instantly.

Residents staged protests, demanding that the state government arrest and prosecute the officer responsible.

Sani visited the boy’s father in Barnawa, Kaduna South Local Government Area, describing the killing as indefensible and barbaric, stressing that it violated human rights and the sanctity of life.

He called on the state government, the Nigerian Police Force, and the National Human Rights Commission to launch an urgent investigation and prosecute the culprit.

“This was somebody’s child, not a statistic. Justice for Abubakar is justice for every Nigerian who believes in the rule of law,” Sani said.

The grieving father recounted that when operatives stormed the community, residents ran in fear. He had advised his son not to flee, thinking there was nothing to fear. Moments later, an officer allegedly grabbed Abubakar from behind, pressed a pistol to his head, and fired.

“This was not an accident; it was an execution,” the father said, calling for those responsible to face the full weight of the law.
