 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. TWO SUSPECTED ZIMBABWEAN THIEVES ARRESTED WITH STOLEN FORD RANGER EN ROUTE TO ZIMBABWE. (PHOTOS).

 Two Suspected Zimbabwean Thieves Arrested With Stolen Ford Ranger En Route to Zimbabwe


Two suspects were arrested after being found with a stolen Ford Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 worth R800 000, which they were allegedly attempting to smuggle into Zimbabwe.


The vehicle was stolen in the early hours of Friday, 15 August 2025, in the Brooklyn area of Pretoria. Intelligence later revealed that it was being driven towards the Beitbridge border.


The Limpopo Tracking Team, working with several security companies, quickly launched an operation. The vehicle was intercepted on the N1 near Botlokwa, and the suspects, aged between 31 and 44, were arrested on the spot.


The swift action prevented the vehicle from crossing the border. It has since been impounded for further investigation.


The suspects are expected to appear before the Sekgosese Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 August 2025.
