 US-China trade talks begin in Paris, setting stage for Trump-Xi summit  U.S. and Chinese officials began high-level trade talks in Paris on Sunday, setting the stage for President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Beijing to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping in about two weeks. The delegations are led by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. While the White House has announced Trump’s visit for March 31 to April 2, Beijing has not yet confirmed the dates. Bessent emphasized that the U.S. team aims to secure outcomes that prioritize American farmers, workers, and businesses. Over the two-day talks, the delegations will focus on trade and economic issues of mutual concern. Trump’s visit will be his first to China since his first term in 2017 and follows a one-year truce in the U.S.-China trade war agreed upon last year in Busan, South Korea.  Two women rescued from hot tub at secluded cabin

A friend’s trip to a remote cabin in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge nearly turned deadly when two women in their 80s spent too long in a hot tub and developed hyperthermia, a condition in which the body overheats and cannot cool itself. The women were unable to get out of the tub due to pre-existing mobility issues, and a third woman in the tub helped keep their heads above water while a fourth called for help.

Cabin caretakers managed to remove the women from the hot tub before rescuers arrived. One was partially responsive, while the other was unresponsive and in critical condition. Emergency responders used cold water, ice, and cold compresses to lower the women’s body temperatures. After 20 to 30 minutes, both began to recover and were transferred to a hospital. Authorities later confirmed alcohol was not involved. The rescue team, which usually handles search and high-angle or water rescues, advised limiting hot tub sessions to 15–30 minutes and ensuring anyone entering can safely exit, especially those with disabilities.
