 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  US confirms killing of senior ISIS leader in Syria 

U.S. forces killed a senior ISIS official in northern Syria on Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) confirmed Thursday.

The raid targeted a high-ranking ISIS member who also acted as a key financier responsible for planning attacks in Syria and Iraq. Centcom said the official maintained networks in the region, representing a direct threat to U.S. and coalition forces as well as the new Syrian government.

“We will continue to pursue ISIS terrorists with unwavering determination throughout the region,” Centcom commander Adm. Brad Cooper said. “Together with our partners and allies, CENTCOM remains committed to ensuring the lasting defeat of ISIS and protecting the U.S. homeland.”

The operation follows a similar strike last month in which U.S. forces killed senior ISIS leader Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani and his two adult sons, all of whom were linked to planning attacks against coalition forces and the Syrian government.
