 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  US confirms killing of senior ISIS leader in Syria 

U.S. forces killed a senior ISIS official in northern Syria on Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) confirmed Thursday.

The raid targeted a high-ranking ISIS member who also acted as a key financier responsible for planning attacks in Syria and Iraq. Centcom said the official maintained networks in the region, representing a direct threat to U.S. and coalition forces as well as the new Syrian government.

“We will continue to pursue ISIS terrorists with unwavering determination throughout the region,” Centcom commander Adm. Brad Cooper said. “Together with our partners and allies, CENTCOM remains committed to ensuring the lasting defeat of ISIS and protecting the U.S. homeland.”

The operation follows a similar strike last month in which U.S. forces killed senior ISIS leader Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani and his two adult sons, all of whom were linked to planning attacks against coalition forces and the Syrian government.
