 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  UTSEV HONOURS SUPER FALCONS STAR FRANCISCA ORDEGA FOR WAFCON WIN

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, on Friday congratulated Benue-born Super Falcons player, Miss Francisca Ordega, on Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).


Ordega, who was received in the Minister’s office in Abuja alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, was celebrated for her contribution to Nigeria’s historic win securing the WAFCON trophy for a record tenth time.


Speaking during the visit, Prof. Utsev praised the Super Falcons for their exceptional performance, describing the team’s success as a result of hard work, determination, and teamwork. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support to the team, including the conferment of national honours and generous rewards to boost their morale.


“I am particularly proud that a daughter of Benue is among the champions who made Nigeria proud. As a Ministry, we are proud to associate with her success and will continue to support and encourage young people in Benue to excel in their careers,” the Minister stated.


In her response, Miss Ordega expressed gratitude for the warm reception and honour accorded to her. She thanked Prof. Utsev whom she referred to as “a brother and uncle” the people of Benue, President Tinubu, and the entire nation for their support.


She also urged the Minister to invest more in sports development in Benue State to help discover and nurture emerging talents.


The meeting ended on a celebratory note, with photographs and applause in honour of Ordega and the victorious Super Falcons.
