27 NEW PRINCIPALS TAKE CHARGE IN EDUCATION DISTRICT III

The Lagos State Government has approved the appointment of 27 new principals across the public secondary schools in Education District III, in a move aimed at strengthening school leadership and boosting academic standards.

Letters of appointment were formally presented by the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District, Dr. Idowu Olufunke Oyetola, at the district headquarters in Falomo, Ikoyi, on September 29, 2025.

Dr. Oyetola congratulated the new appointees and pledged her full support throughout their tenure. However, she reminded them that the role comes with responsibility and flexibility.

“This is not just a title, it's

a call to service,” she said. “Many of you will be posted outside your current stations. Leadership demands readiness to move beyond your comfort zones whenever duty calls.”

She urged the principals to prioritise discipline, innovation and community engagement within their schools, assuring them that the district would provide the resources and monitoring needed to help them succeed.

The newly appointed principals are expected to assume duty immediately. An induction and leadership workshop has been scheduled to familiarise them with the district’s performance targets, reporting procedures and welfare policies.

Some of the appointees expressed gratitude for the opportunity and promised to justify the government’s confidence in them.

The mass appointment is one of several ongoing reforms across Lagos State’s Six Education Districts, designed to reposition schools for improved learning outcomes and administrative efficiency.
