 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  ADC has over 100 senators, about 400 Reps – Dino Melaye


Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye has calimed that the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has more senators and House of Representatives members.


Melaye disclosed that the ADC now has over 100 Senators, both former and serving, and about 400 members of the House of Representatives, both serving and former.


In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Melaye said the ADC is fast becoming a political force with the party witnessing more former state governors.


The Kogi State-born politician vowed that the ADC will unseat the President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.


“As I speak, we have over 100 Senators, both former and serving, who are members of the ADC.


“We have close to 400 members of the House of Representatives, former and serving, who are members of the ADC,” he said.
