Governor Hyacinth Alia has firmly dismissed speculations surrounding the position of deputy governor ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that there is “no vacancy” in the office.
Speaking during a the swearing in of new commissioners, Governor Alia cautioned political actors against heating up the polity with premature ambitions, stressing that his administration remains focused on delivering on its mandate rather than being distracted by politics.
The governor emphasized that his deputy, Barr. Sam Ode, enjoys his full confidence and support, describing him as a dependable partner in governance.
“Let it be clear—there is no vacancy for the deputy governorship position in 2027. We are united in purpose and committed to serving the good people of Benue State,” Alia stated.
