Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen step out in coordinated black looks for New York stroll Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a rare joint appearance in New York City, stepping out together for a relaxed afternoon in matching, understated fashion.  Bill Nye receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Bill Nye, the Central New York–born science educator and television host, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, becoming the 2,821st recipient. His star, in the Television category, is located at 6357 Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recognized Nye for his work “to make science accessible and entertaining for all ages.” In addition to hosting Bill Nye the Science Guy, he is an engineer, comedian, inventor, best-selling author, and CEO of The Planetary Society, the world’s largest nonprofit space organization co-founded by Carl Sagan.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Nye reflected on the honor, thanking friends, family, colleagues, and supporters, as well as TV star Joel McHale, comedian Ross Shafer, and NBA player Jaylen Brown, who attended the ceremony. Nye, 69, said, “I love science. I love comedy. I love television, which was invented with science… All of my work has been a celebration of the passion, beauty, and joy of science — coupled with the art of television and the moving image.” Nye graduated from Cornell University in 1977 with a degree in mechanical engineering and has remained closely connected to the school, serving as a visiting professor, donating the Bill Nye Solar Noon Clock, and speaking at convocation. Other Central New York natives with stars on the Walk of Fame include Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Annette Funicello, Rod Serling, and Vanessa Williams.
