 Recording Academy adds five new Grammy categories, updates rules for 2026 awards NEW YORK - The Recording Academy is introducing five new categories and making several rule changes for the 2026 Grammy Awards in an effort to reflect the evolving global music landscape. Among the new additions is a best Asian pop music performance category, which will honor performances across genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop styles, with the award going to performers. A new best traditional pop vocal performance category will recognize artists whose work does not fit within modern pop styles. A best Latin song category will spotlight songwriters for Spanish-language Latin recordings. Changes are also coming to existing categories in R&B and folk music. DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS FOUR SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, RECOVERS ONE AK-47 RIFLE, VICTIM’S VEHICLE AND THEIR OPERATIONAL VEHICLE


ARREST OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SYNDICATE  RECOVERY OF ONE  AK-47 RIFLE


1. ARREST OF A SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER/ ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK-47 RIFLE. Acting on intelligence, on 12th September 2025, a team led by the DPO Ekpan, CSP Labe Joseph, arrested two suspects: Elvis Ebroghro (male, aged 36) and Abiola Adegore (male, aged 34), both residents of Ometan. Preliminary findings indicate that on 11 September 2025, a community security guard, Abdullahi Mohammed (male), sighted the duo attempting to steal a vehicle battery. When he challenged them, the suspects allegedly threatened to kill him if he reported the incident. Following Elvis Ebroghro's confessional statement, operatives intensified their operations, leading to the arrest of another key suspect, Lucky Ebroghro. During the follow-up operation, one AK-47 rifle concealed inside an isolated building within Ometan Community and linked to the syndicate was recovered. Investigation is ongoing.


2. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF VICTIM VEHICLE, SUSPECT OPERATIONAL VEHICLE AND A NETWORK JAMMER: On 8th on September 2025 at about 0130hours, the command received a distress call that a young man (name withheld) was kidnapped at his residence in Ogwashi-Uku and taken away. The kidnappers after collecting a ransom of two million naira (#2,000,000) shot his leg for not having enough money. The CP immediately detailed the command's Special anti-kidnapping and cyber squad to the scene. The commander CSP Godwin Osadolor alongside his operatives stormed the bush and trailed the suspects to Ogwashi-Uku bush, where the victim was rescued with gunshot injury. The operatives then embarked on an intelligence-led investigation and arrested the duo of Chukwuebuka Nka ‘m’, aged 25 years, of Nenwe in Aniri LGA of Enugu State and Uche Okechukwu ‘m’ of  Amaifeke in Orlu LGA of imo state. Suspects were arrested at Owerri road, Ndemili North LGA of Anambra state and the victim's white colour Venza SUV was recovered from them. Following the confessions of the two suspects, the operatives stormed their hideout at Agidiase village in Ogwashi-uku, where one Somto Chukwuma ‘m’ aged 18 years of Ezea of Ihiala LGA, Anambra state, was arrested. The suspect took the operatives to another hideout in Ogwashi-Uku, where they recovered their operational  Toyota Matrix vehicle with registration no. RRT-331-AE  and a network jammer circuit device was also recovered. Suspects are in custody, and investigation is ongoing.


The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the operatives for their professionalism and resilience, stressing that there will be no safe haven for criminals in Delta State. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to relentlessly dismantling criminal networks to restore peace and safety across communities.
