 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Ebonyi State Community in Anambra Celebrates 2025 New Yam Festival and Confers Chieftaincy Titles In Ogbunike

The Izzi Nnodo Ekumaenyi Progressive Union, a body of Izzi indigenes from Ebonyi State residing in Anambra, has celebrated its 2025 New Yam Festival with a thanksgiving Mass at No. 10 Bunko Road, near Tour Gate, Ogbunike, during which ten deserving indigenes were honored.


In a homily to usher in the new yam festival , Rev. Father John Nwiziogo, urged the people to persevere in faith, embrace the Cross, and reflect Christ in humility, obedience and character, while thanking God for the gift of the new yam harvest.


The event drew members, women groups and well-wishers, and was graced by top dignitaries, including the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mr. Chris Molokwu, represented by Mr. Val Oguejiofor.


The Chairman and President-General of the Izzi Nnodo Ekumaenyi Union, Evang. Dr. Elijah Nwalor, said the event was to honour indigenes of Ebonyi State in Anambra for their good deeds and responsiveness to community calls.


Speaking on behalf of the honorees, the Managing Director of the Special Anti-Touting Squad of Anambra State (SASA), Chief Monday Nwokoye, expressed gratitude to the Union for the honor bestowed on them.


The festival attended by HRH Eze Amos Nkwuda, among other royal fathers, featured ceremonial cutting of yam, cultural dances, among others.
