 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker.  Erika Kirk gives emotional address to nation after husband Charlie Kirk’s killing

"You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry," said Erika Kirk, wife of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, in her first public message since his killing. Her emotional remarks came just days after a gunman fatally shot her husband while he was speaking at Utah Valley University.

Speaking to supporters and addressing the nation, Erika vowed to continue her husband's work with Turning Point USA and ensure that his legacy endures. "The movement my husband built will not die. It won't, I refuse to let that happen ... All of us will refuse to let that happen," she said. "No one will ever forget my husband's name, and I will make sure of it." Erika thanked first responders, investigators, and President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance for their support in the aftermath of the tragedy. Fighting back tears, she shared that Trump had been a close friend and supporter of her husband.

Erika spoke movingly of her and Charlie’s two children — a 1-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter — describing the heartbreak of explaining her husband’s absence to their daughter. "What do you tell a 3-year-old? She's three. I said, 'Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don't you worry. He's on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget," she said.

Charlie Kirk’s death has been described as a "political assassination." He was struck by a single shot while speaking during the first stop of Turning Point USA's "American Comeback Tour." He was transported to a local hospital but could not be saved. President Trump announced Kirk’s death on social media, calling him "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk," and praising his work with young Americans.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox later confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the shooting, vowing to work closely with Kirk’s family as the case proceeds. Erika Kirk, a former Miss Arizona USA and collegiate basketball player, is currently pursuing a doctorate in Biblical studies at Liberty University. She is the founder of a faith-based clothing brand called Proclaim, host of the "Midweek Rise Up" podcast, and runs two nonprofit organizations. She has long been a visible presence at her husband’s public events and says she is determined to carry forward his mission.
