 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem. FATAL ELECTROCUTION: BORNO POLICE EVACUATES BODY OF SUSPECTED TRANSFORMER VANDAL, COMMENCE INVESTIGATION AT BORNO STATE UNIVERSITY


The Borno State Police Command wishes to inform the public that today, 7/9/2025, the body of an unidentified male was discovered near a transformer in Borno State University, Maiduguri. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was electrocuted in an attempt to vandalize electrical installations.


The Command has since commenced a full investigation into the incident, while the body in collaboration with Borno State Fire Service has been evacuated to the hospital for proper medical procedures.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, once again warns criminal elements to desist from acts of vandalism and sabotage, as such endanger lives and compromise public safety.


The Command reassures the good people of Borno State of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urges residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements around public infrastructure to the nearest police station.
