 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state.  FBI seeks public assistance in identifying Charlie Kirk shooter

The FBI on Thursday released photos of a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk and is offering up to $100,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Kirk, founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University and later died from his injuries. Authorities interviewed at least one individual after the shooting, who was subsequently released, and no one was in custody as of Thursday morning. The released images depict a seemingly white man wearing a hat and sunglasses, a long-sleeved black shirt with an American flag design, and long pants. The FBI has directed the public to a website to submit tips and photos related to the suspect.

The shooting prompted Utah Valley University to close classes and escort students and staff from campus. Political leaders and media figures across the spectrum condemned the act of violence, with the California Legislature pausing business to acknowledge the incident. Social media initially carried messages of hope for Kirk’s survival, though President Donald Trump later confirmed his death. Trump himself has survived two assassination attempts.

While many condemned the shooting, some critics highlighted Kirk’s past controversial statements, including remarks about slavery, homosexuality, and gun rights. Kirk founded Turning Point USA in 2012 to promote conservative values in high schools and universities, emphasizing fiscal responsibility and limited government. The organization claims a presence on more than 3,500 campuses and describes itself as the largest and fastest-growing youth group in the country.
