 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. IGP COMMENDS DEPOWA PRESIDENT FOR INTRODUCING FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO CHILDREN OF FALLEN HEROES.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has commended the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for introducing a landmark initiative to provide full scholarships to children of fallen heroes. The IGP gave the commendation while receiving a courtesy visit from DEPOWA to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.


The President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Musa who led other members of the association on the visit themed “Thank You to Our Troops” explained that the scholarship would commence with the commissioning of DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy scheduled for September 2026. She further explained that the scholarship would benefit children of fallen heroes and also bolster national cohesion by admitting children from surrounding communities. Mrs. Musa also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and praised the sacrifices of police officers in combating violent crimes and contributing to international peacekeeping.


While responding, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting life and property, maintaining public order, and safeguarding democracy. IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the NPF remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional mandate while drawing strength from the support of stakeholders such as DEPOWA and other affiliate associations.
