 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. IGP COMMENDS DEPOWA PRESIDENT FOR INTRODUCING FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO CHILDREN OF FALLEN HEROES.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has commended the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for introducing a landmark initiative to provide full scholarships to children of fallen heroes. The IGP gave the commendation while receiving a courtesy visit from DEPOWA to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.


The President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Musa who led other members of the association on the visit themed “Thank You to Our Troops” explained that the scholarship would commence with the commissioning of DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy scheduled for September 2026. She further explained that the scholarship would benefit children of fallen heroes and also bolster national cohesion by admitting children from surrounding communities. Mrs. Musa also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and praised the sacrifices of police officers in combating violent crimes and contributing to international peacekeeping.


While responding, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting life and property, maintaining public order, and safeguarding democracy. IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the NPF remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional mandate while drawing strength from the support of stakeholders such as DEPOWA and other affiliate associations.
