 IMO STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE OF 6TH DECEMBER, 2025 IMO POLICE COMMAND INTENSIFY CRACKDOWN ON KIDNAPPING, VIOLENT CRIMES ALONG OWERRI–ABA EXPRESSWAY As part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes along the Owerri–Aba Expressway, a high-powered team led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma on Saturday, 6th December, 2025, inspected suspected kidnappers hideouts in Umuhu Autonomous Community in Ngor-Okpala following credible intelligence on Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, currently at large. The delegation included the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist, Imo State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; members of the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group led by Mr. Henry Ikpe; and the Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon.  LASG RESTATES COMMITMENT TO TEACHERS' WELFARE


… Approves Housing, Car Refurbishment Loans


As part of efforts to improve the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff of Lagos State, the Lagos State Government, through the Teachers Loan Board, has approved the applications of 265 beneficiaries for car refurbishment and housing loans.


The approval was given on Tuesday at the bi-annual Teachers Loan Board meeting presided over by the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, at the Commission's headquarters in Ikeja.


Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila reiterated the state government's commitment to the welfare of teachers and non-teaching staff of the state.


She noted that these approvals are essential for retaining talented educators and fostering commitment to their vital role in society. 


She said, "With the upward review of car refurbishment loan from N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) to N500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) for the senior level management officers and N30,000 to N100,000 for Junior level Officers by the Governor, a greater percentage of staff can now benefit from the scheme."


Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila further disclosed that the consideration for the upward review of housing loans, as recommended by the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) to Mr. Governor is ongoing and receiving attention.


She called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the loans and impart a positive impact on the overall outcome of students in the state.


Also, speaking at the meeting, the Director, Teachers Welfare Department, Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Akinwande Festus said adequate welfare packages enhance teachers' contentment with their jobs, leading to higher motivation and morale.


He said the loans help the teaching and non-teaching staff to improve their standards of living and also serve as an encouragement to talented and experienced teaching and non-teaching staff, thereby preventing the loss of skilled educators.


The Teacher's Loan Board is saddled with the responsibility of considering housing and car refurbishment loan applications from the teaching and non-teaching staff from all the Education Districts, LASTVEB and TESCOM for approval, and subsequent disbursement of funds to eligible staff by the State Treasury Office, Alausa.
