 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Limpopo man arrested after allegedly pointing firearm at shop employee


A 44-year-old man has been arrested in Westenburg, Polokwane, after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a shop teller in Ladanna.


Police said the incident occurred on Thursday, September 18, when the suspect, who was a customer, threatened to shoot the employee during an argument. Officers responded quickly and found the man still at the shop.


“During the interview, the suspect admitted to pointing the teller with a firearm, which was inside his vehicle,” police spokesperson said.


Further investigations led officers to the suspect’s workshop, where additional firearms were found. A search of his farm also uncovered four rifles and ammunition.


The suspect claimed the weapons belonged to a client who had brought a vehicle for service at his workshop.


He was arrested on charges of pointing a firearm and possession of suspected unlicensed firearms and ammunition.


The man is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 22.
