Rivers State:  Administrator Urges Citizens To Unite

The Rivers State

Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, retired, has appealed to the people of the state to set aside their differences and forge a united front toward peace and sustainable development that will transcend bitterness, political rivalry, and self-interest.

The Administrator made the call at a Thanksgiving Service, which is part of events to

mark the return of democratic governance to the state.

After spending six months in the saddle as administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, retired, will, in less than four days, hand over the reins of power.

As part of the activities to herald the return of democratic rule to the state, Vice Admiral Ibas on Sunday joined other Christians at an interdenominational thanksgiving service held at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt.

Looking back at the last six months, Vice Admiral Ibas said his administration has been able to sow the seeds of love and peace.

The administrator wants the political actors in the state to “sheath

their swords,”

stating that no political victory or personal gain is worth the blood of any Rivers citizen.

Vice Admiral Ibas

also advised the youths not to allow enemies of the state to use them as instruments of violence, but to channel their energies into building a peaceful and prosperous state.

He further called on community leaders, elders, and religious figures to continue providing guidance, wisdom, and prayers for the continued stability of Rivers State.
