 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs.  TROOPS RESCUE 17 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN KOGI STATE


In its sustained effort to to stem the tide of banditry and other criminal activities in Kogi State, the gallant troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army  with Hybrid Forces and Local Vigilantes have successfully rescued 17 kidnapped victims, including 4 children.

12 Brigade Nigerian Army, says the troops on Wednesday 10th September, 2025 on a Patrol Base at Apata received a credible intelligence of a kidnap incident at Opamaru Village along Obajana–Lokoja Road. The victims who were travelling in a 17-seater bus from Osun State and headed for Abuja, were kidnapped by the criminals. Without delay, the patrol base reinforced by the Brigade Quick Response Group (QRG), immediately mobilized to the scene.


On arrival, the troops discovered a 17-seater bus abandoned by the roadside, completely empty. Employing field craft, the soldiers swiftly trailed the kidnappers to Wuro Village in Adavi Local Government Area, where the troops came in contact with the criminals.


Overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, the criminals abandoned all 17 kidnapped passengers and fled into the bush with various degrees of gunshot injuries. The rescued victims were immediately evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre for first aid and stabilization.


It adds, the Nigerian Army has reassured the general public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging citizens to continue to support the military with timely information to aid ongoing operations.
