 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  VP SHETTIMA LEADS NIGERIA'S DELEGATION TO 80TH UNGA IN NEW YORK 


Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly holding in New York, United States of America, between Monday, September 22 and Sunday 28, 2025.


In a Statement by the Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha said Shettima who is scheduled to join other leaders at the global event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations will also join other dignitaries at the high-level general debates from Tuesday, September 23rd to Sunday 28th.


VP Shettima will also deliver Nigeria’s national statement on behalf of President Tinubu on Wednesday, September 24 between 3:00pm and  9:00pm, New York time.


He will attend a special event on Climate for Heads of State and Government to be hosted by the UN Secretary-General on Wednesday, September 24, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, where Nigeria is expected to announce its new Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement.


Vice President Shettima is also slated to attend the high-level roundtable of the Global Champions on Adequate and Affordable Housing to be hosted by the President of Kenya on September 24th and attend to other bilateral meetings and events. 


After the UNGA, the Vice President will leave for Frankfurt, Germany, where he is slated to meet with officials of the Deutche Bank before returning to Nigeria.
