A 17-YEAR-OLD OKLAHOMA TEEN TAKES AN OFF DUTY OFFICER'S FIREARM AND USES IT TO TAKE HIS LIFE. (PHOTO).

A 17-year-old Oklahoma teen takes an off duty officer's firearm and uses it to take his life.

This heartbreaking incident occurred at the Tulsa Boys Home on Tuesday, October 21st. On that date, two off duty Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputies were volunteering their time to teach an archery class. The class was taking place inside of a gym on the Tulsa Boy's Home complex in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

While the officers taught the archery class, which was attended by only 3 teens who were in the custody of DHS, one officer was giving instructions as he was approached from behind by 17-year-old Malaki Montgomery.

Malaki successfully stripped the off duty officers weapon from his holster and used it to take his own life. The 911 call went out at 9:23 a.m. and first responders descended on the scene. Sadly, there was nothing they could do, and the teen was pronounced deceased.

The off duty officer has been placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.

The communication officer for Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, Casey Roebuck, said- "This came out of absolutely nowhere; there was no indication that the officer could have seen what was about to occur. It's just a huge tragedy.

The archery classes have been taught by off duty officers for the last 10 years.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office Captain Richard Muelenberg stated, "Unfortunately, today is an eye opener and sometimes we have to reevaluate things.  I don't want the program to stop, no one wants this program to stop, but it does give everyone a moment of pause to figure out what we need to do moving forward ".

Our thoughts are with absolutely everyone involved in this terrible incident.
